OUR Summer Research Award
Interested in starting, continuing, or completing your research project? Apply for the OUR Undergraduate Summer Research Award! Selected students will receive an award of up to $2,500 in research wages. Awardees will be required to report on their activities at the end of the summer, and present their findings at the 2024 Student Research Conference (SRC).
Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum GPA of 2.7
- Enrolled CSUDH undergraduate student
- A rising sophomore, junior, or senior
- Conducting research w/ a CSUDH faculty
- Continuing enrollment at CSUDH Fall 2023
- Have not received prior funding for this award
- DACA students are encouraged to apply

The Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program supports active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by the National Science Foundation.
The goal of the program is to increase the number of underrepresented students who pursue graduate study and research careers. SROP helps prepare undergraduates for graduate study through intensive research experiences with faculty mentors and enrichment activities.
A fully paid summer internship that provides undergraduates with training and mentoring in the principles underlying the conduct of research and prepares them to pursue competitive applications to PhD or MD-PhD programs.
Undergraduate participants benefit from undertaking a research project under top faculty, being part of a cohort-based experience of seminars and networking events, and taking part in a symposium in their respective region where they meet their peers, learn about biotechnology, and hear from leading scientists.
The SURF Program is designed to inspire undergraduate students to pursue careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) through a unique research experience that supports the NIST mission.
The Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowships (UGSRF) allow students to participate in hands-on research in the laboratory of an established researcher and APS member for 10 weeks.
A summer national and international research training program funded by the National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities, National Institutes of Health.
The objectives of the program are:
- To increase the numbers of individuals belonging to groups underrepresented in biomedical, behavioral, clinical and social sciences research that pursue advanced degrees and careers in these fields.
- To make these trainees aware of health problems that disproportionally affect the most disadvantaged and underserved sectors of the society, and to prepare them to seek novel approaches to address them.
- To show these trainees the importance of national and international research collaboration in addressing health issues and health disparities.
- To make them aware of the existing opportunities for research collaboration to address health issues, and reduce health disparities.
- To contribute to the reduction, and eventual elimination of health disparities among racial and ethnic minority groups in the U.S.

The Janelia Undergraduate Scholars program is a 10-week summer program aimed at well-prepared, independent, and committed students with significant research experience. Janelia undergraduate scholars are dedicated future scientists, engineers, and mathematicians.
Established in 2020 by Jay and Suzanne McFarland, the Shoals Diversity Scholarship seeks to increase the diversity of undergraduate students studying at Shoals Marine Lab (SML). SML is a summer institute and field station jointly run by Cornell and the University of New Hampshire on Appledore Island, Maine, offering summer courses and internships for undergraduates. To this end, SML invites under-represented students to apply for financial support for SML academic courses. Diversity includes and is not limited to: race, age, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, and veteran status. SML is committed to supporting a diverse community and a strong sense of belonging for all. Belonging at SML is about fostering respect and appreciation for difference, having a shared purpose and being a part of a community, while simultaneously being valued and appreciated for the uniqueness that each person brings.
The Shoals Diversity Scholarship ranges from $1000 to full tuition plus room and board costs, depending on number of applicants and available funding. Diversity Scholarship applicants should also consider applying for SML’s Need-based and Merit-based scholarships to support their enrollment at the lab.
